Invention Description/ Abstract:
Effective communication between local residents and their state assembly office is important to ensure that community issues, feedback, and announcements are managed efficiently. However, many residents still rely on different communication channels such as social media, WhatsApp, email, or physical visits to contact their local representatives, making communication less organized. Residents also face difficulties in finding official contact information because online sources may be outdated or unreliable, and there is no centralized platform for submitting complaints, reporting local issues, or receiving community updates. As a result, feedback and complaints are scattered across multiple platforms, making it difficult for the ADUN office to manage and respond effectively. Therefore, this project aims to develop e-KITA, a community mobile application that provides a centralized communication platform between residents and the state assembly office. The application allows residents to access official contact information, submit complaints and feedback, report local issues, participate in community polls, and receive the latest news and announcements. It also provides a management dashboard that helps ADUN staff organize, monitor, and manage community interactions more efficiently. The system is developed using the Prototype Model, with Flutter for the mobile application, Laravel for the backend, and MySQL as the database. The proposed system is expected to improve communication efficiency, increase access to reliable information, simplify complaint management, and strengthen engagement between residents and the state assembly office. In conclusion, e-KITA provides a practical digital solution that enhances community communication while supporting a more responsive and efficient public service.
Invention Technical Description
The e-KITA mobile application is a centralized digital platform that servers to strengthen the communication between residents and their State Assembly (DUN) offices. The application shall allow users to access the latest information published by their respective assembly office and government departments regarding matter such as upcoming events, public service announcements and emergency notice without having to rely on printed notices or social media. The application also fetches social media posts across platforms such as Facebook and Twitter from the official public pages of government departments into a single feed so that residents can access all these information in one place. In case of emergency alerts such as water supply disruption, road blockages or power outages in the area, residents will receive a push notifications that is directly send to their mobile devices to ensure that they are notified as soon as possible and can prepare ahead of time. The application (e-KITA) also includes a feedback & complaint section where users can find all official online submission links for where users can submit their feedback or complaints directly to respective departments regarding issues such as poor road conditions or faulty streetlights. Lastly, since Malaysia is a multicultural and multilingual country, the application also provides an AI translation tool that supports 3 languages (English, Chinese & Bahasa Melayu) for any news article/announcement displayed on the app so that residents from different language backgrounds can understand them without any language barrier. The application also includes an AI summarization feature to helps residents to quickly grasp the key points of long news article/announcement since most of the time people don’t like reading long articles/announcement.
The reason why this application was developed is because currently there is a lack of an centralized platform where residents can easily access or receive notifications about the latest community news/announcement. Usually, whenever there are important announcements that the state assembly members would like to share with their residents such as upcoming event schedules, government programs, dengue fogging operation or scheduled maintenance activity, they are usually shared through printed notices, social media pages or announced using vehicles equipped with loudspeakers that will drive around the area to broadcast the message around the neighborhood.
